Fireworks for National Non-fiction November!

It’s #NNFN, the annual celebration of factastic books organized by the Federation of Children’s Book Groups.

I was delighted to work with Lonely Planet Kids to create a hands-on event for children’s book groups and book shops. You can download it for FREE here! It’s based on their brand new title You Rule! which helps readers create a new nation from scratch. It’s a brilliant example of the creative non-fiction creating a buzz in the children’s book world right now.

Great non-fiction does more than answer children’s questions. It harnesses this curiosity to help them make connections between diverse topics, opening doors to new adventures in the real world.

For reluctant or struggling readers, accessible non-fiction can help ensure that reading ability does not become a barrier to learning in other subject areas.

As November is also a month of bonfires and pyrotechnics, I thought I’d share a couple of infographics from Fireworks! Find out how those sky-splitting shells are made, and get an explosive introduction to the periodic table of elements!
